Chelsea broke the Premier League record by paying 121 million euros to sign Enzo Fernandez. Meanwhile, Joao Cancelo unexpectedly moved to Bayern Munich, and Jorginho joined Arsenal.
Once again, Premier League teams have made significant investments to bolster their rosters to strengthen their squad for the latter half of the season.
Under the management of Graham Potter, Chelsea went on an incredible spending spree during the January transfer window and acquired several players, including Mykhaylo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, and Joao Felix, who was acquired on loan from Atletico Madrid. The team, which has been facing difficulties, sought to strengthen its squad.

Fernandez named the Best Young Player of the World Cup for his outstanding performance during Argentina’s World Cup victory in Qatar; only joined Portuguese club Benfica in July of the previous year for an estimated fee of £10 million. He has now signed an eight-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea that will last until 2031.
Benfica manager Roger Schmidt reacted to Enzo Fernandez’s transfer to Chelsea in a press conference, saying, ‘Benfica is much bigger than one single player”.
