The Asia Cup 2023 cricket tournament is set to kick off on August 30, providing essential groundwork for all participating teams in the lead-up to the imminent ODI World Cup 2023, slated to commence on October 5. The tournament’s inauguration will witness Pakistan clashing with Nepal in the opening match, scheduled for August 30 in Multan.

Meanwhile, India is poised to engage in its first match against longstanding rival Pakistan in Kandy on September 2.

Due to prevailing political tensions between India and Pakistan, leading to India’s reluctance to play in Pakistan, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has devised a hybrid model for the tournament’s organization.

Asia Cup 2023 Fixtures & Venue

Consequently, India is slated to compete in all its Asia Cup 2023 matches in Sri Lanka, even those against Pakistan. The event’s structure involves six participating teams distributed into two groups: Group A comprises India, Pakistan, and Nepal, while Group B comprises Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

Subsequently, the tournament has undergone 15 iterations, with the Indian cricket team securing victory on seven occasions. Sri Lanka follows closely with six championship wins and holds the reigning title. Pakistan has achieved triumph twice, most recently in 2012.
