What is the Format of the Saudi Pro League
Starting from the 2023/24 season, the Saudi Pro League will introduce some changes to its format. The league will expand from 16 teams to 18 teams. In the previous season, only two teams were relegated from the top division, while four teams from the First Division were promoted.

After the season, the top two teams will qualify for the AFC Champions League group stages. The team finishing in third place will progress to the competition’s play-off round. Conversely, the bottom three teams will face relegation to the second tier.

Which team has the most Saudi Pro League titles?
While Al Ittihad recently won their ninth Saudi Pro League title in the previous season, they are not the most successful team.
That distinction belongs to Al Hilal, who is determined to reclaim the top spot in Saudi football in the upcoming 23-24 season. Al Hilal has a remarkable record of 18 league titles and has been dominant recently, winning five of the previous six championships before Al Ittihad’s victory in 2023.

Al Nassr, the team led by Cristiano Ronaldo, has also won the competition nine times. Additionally, Al Shabab has won it six times, Al Ahli has won it four times, and Al Ettifaq has won it twice. Al Fateh achieved their sole triumph in the 2012-13 season.
Who Else Transferred to the Saudi Pro League 2023-2024 Season?
Several of the soccer world’s prominent figures have opted to compete in the Saudi Pro League for the upcoming 2023/2024 season, and you might find it surprising to discover who has decided to make this transition.
Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and former Celtic forward Jota have joined the reigning champions of the Saudi Pro League, Al-Ittihad, collaborating with coach Nuno Espirito Santo, who previously managed Wolves.

Roberto Firmino and Edouard Mendy departed the Premier League to become part of Al-Ahli’s roster, and Riyad Mahrez from Manchester City is poised to join them.
The captain of Liverpool, Jordan Henderson, is also on track to move to the upper echelons of Saudi Arabian football, with a transfer to Al Ettifaq, a team under the management of Steven Gerrard.
Other noteworthy names that have entered the Saudi Pro League include Marcelo Brozovic, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Ruben Neves. This roster will likely expand further as numerous other distinguished players are nearing similar moves.
