Preview the 2025 Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix
The 2025 Formula 1 season heads to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for the Mexico City Grand Prix, Round 20 of 24, on October 24-26, returning to a traditional race weekend format after the Austin Sprint. The core challenge remains the circuit’s altitude, sitting over 2,200 meters above sea level. This thin air drastically reduces aerodynamic downforce, forcing teams to run Monaco-level high-downforce wings while paradoxically achieving high top speeds on the 1.2 km main straight due to reduced drag.
Max Verstappen is the clear favorite, having won five of the last seven races here, and comes in hot after cutting Oscar Piastri’s championship lead to just 40 points. While McLaren’s Piastri and Lando Norris have faced recent struggles, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are expected to be strong contenders; Leclerc finished P3 in the last two editions. Pirelli has opted for a ‘compound jump’ (C2/C4/C5), which is expected to prompt an intense tactical decision between a one-stop (using the hard C2) or a quicker but higher-risk two-stop strategy (using the C4 and C5) due to pronounced tire graining. Local hero Pato O’Ward will also feature, driving the McLaren in Free Practice 1.

What we really need to know, is whether Sky Sport will provide on demand replays. With so many races taking place over-night, I like to watch them early the next morning, before work, and before I accidentally see any news of what happened. Is this function available on Sky Sport?
Hi Nicole,
If you’re like me, you may not always have time to watch live events when they happen. Here comes SKy Sport Now.
You can access all 23 races of the F1 season, plus practice and qualifying races, with on-demand replays – all for just $44.99 per month with Sky Sport Now.
But that’s not all! You’ll also access 12 other Sky Sport and ESPN channels with Sky Sport Now. That means you can stay updated with all your favorite sports.
You can watch ESPN channels (which comes with Sky Sport Now) in New Zealand by connecting your IP address to the server in USA via ExpressVPN.
do you know of any free streaming options for Formula 1 in New Zealand? I’m kinda broke at the moment and really don’t wanna miss any of the races. If you have any suggestions, I’d be so grateful!
I totally understand your situation. One option you might want to consider is Servus TV. They offer free streaming of Formula 1 races in Austria and Germany and an online streaming service that might work for you in New Zealand. It’s definitely worth checking out! You can read our full guide on how to watch F1 on Servus in New Zealand here
I was trying to figure out if spark sport is still linked to F1TV and their ChatBot told me specifically that after 31 December 2022 spark wasn’t providing access to f1 at all! Do you know anything about it?
I’m sorry to share that as of December 31, 2022, Spark Sport is no longer the place to catch Formula 1 races in NZ. Additionally, F1 is not included in the TVNZ partnership either, which means customers with access to F1TV Pro through Spark Sport can not watch live races on F1 TV Pro. I would suggest you the alternative, which is Sky Sport, that also holds the broadcasting rights for Formula 1 races in NZ.
or even better & cheaper is f1 tv pro, nzd $100 for the year, on board cameras as well, for pro replay available immediately. so 2 mths of sky or 12 months via streaming for same price, no brainer huh.
What time is the actually race in Bahrain being shown in NZ i can only find replays on Monday
