Formula 1 2024 Season Preview
The upcoming Formula 1 season in 2024 is set to be unique. Unprecedentedly, every driver who completed the 2023 campaign will return in the same seat for 2024, and no new tracks are being added to the schedule.
The technical regulations will remain stable, creating an overall sense of continuity. Nonetheless, despite the apparent static nature, numerous changes are on the horizon.
Max Verstappen and Red Bull dominated the 2023 season, while teams like McLaren and Ferrari exhibited improvement toward the season’s conclusion. Alfa Romeo is poised for a name change in 2024 as its current title sponsorship concludes. The team is anticipated to adopt the Sauber brand in 2024 before transitioning into the Audi Works team in 2026.
Red Bull’s junior team, AlphaTauri, is also slated for a name change in 2024, aiming to revert to a non-branded name reminiscent of its former Toro Rosso identity. Although the rebranding is yet to be officially announced, rumors are suggesting the team might be called Racing Bulls.
While the 2023 F1 grid remains unchanged entering the new season, teams have retained their drivers from the previous year, with several contracts set to expire by the end of 2024. Daniel Ricciardo secures his place at AlphaTauri after the mid-2023 departure of Nyck de Vries. Speculation about Sergio Perez potentially losing his place at Red Bull following a challenging mid-season has been dismissed, including rumors of Ricciardo moving to the team next year.
Even though the grid retains its structure from the latter part of the previous season, the 2024 season promises increased intrigue, with 13 out of 20 seats up for contention at the year’s end.
